Exhaust gas temperature sensor (EGTS)

Brief description

Reducing the pollutant emissions, while meeting the CO² regulations and standards has become a global challenge. Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensors (EGTS) play a fundamental role to protect components exposed to hot exhaust gas from overheating and to help optimizing the engine combustion process to reduce pollutant emissions.

The sensor solution of PEX and TESONA incorporates a thermos-couple element enabling broad temperature measurement from minus 40°C up to 1.150°C, while providing a most accurate signal output across this wide temperature range.

Features

  • Sensor element: Type N thermocouple

  • Modular system: Mono (one thermocouple) / Duo (two thermocouples)

  • Signal output: PWM / SENT

  • Operating temperature from -40°C to 1.150 °C

  • Plug connector: 3-pole, shape according to customer requirements

  • Installation length from 19 mm to 75 mm

  • Designed for harsh environments

Benefits

  • Most accurate high-temperature measurement close to the combustion engine

  • Modular sensor solution speeds up design and development phase, while realizing system cost savings

  • Digital interface enabling easy integration into modern vehicles

  • Small integration size

Available support

  • Custom sensor design based on modular sensor concept

  • Consulting and advice during design phase

  • Rapid prototyping

Physical characteristics

  • Operation Temperature: -40°C to +160°C

  • Voltage from controller: 5 V

  • Voltage from on-board power supply: 12 V

Typical applications

EGTS in front of the turbocharger (T3), in oxidation and SCR catalytic converters, particular filters and exhaust gas recirculation systems
